Perspective All Star Hockey

The players have been chosen, the crowd is on its feet and it's time to drop the puck. It could only be one thing: the annual NHL All-Star Game and SuperSkills Competition, that storied event where the league's best square off in a test of individual and team skills.

The NHL All-Star Game is one of the most anticipated events of the season. It is a turning point for many teams as play in the second half of the season determines who will compete for the Stanley Cup.

Last year's game was held at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas, and saw the Western Conference All-Stars defeat the Eastern Conference All-Stars 12-9. It was the first game for three of the league's top young stars Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin and Daniel Briere. Though his team lost, Briere's one- goal and four-assist evening was more than enough to earn him the honour of being named the game's Most Valuable Player.

With the 2008 game taking place in Atlanta, Georgia, be sure to tune in on January 26, 2008, to see your favourite players go head-to-head in the always-exciting SuperSkills Competition. Tune in again the following night to see the Eastern Conference take on the Western Conference in the 56th Annual NHL All-Star Game.
